The multimedia portals linked sites in real time: a person at a portal in one city saw and heard people at a portal in another.
The network covered nine cities. The main portal stood in Moscow at the “Russia” exhibition at VDNKh and was the centre of the whole system, while the others operated in St Petersburg, Perm, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok, Tyumen, Saratov and Grozny. The portals operated from 7 to 16 June 2024.
Mystic created the script, visual and animation parts of the installation – that is, what a person saw as they approached a portal and the scenario by which the interaction unfolded. The project included the creative concept, CG content, interactivity and software.
Real-time connection between nine cities is about the synchronous operation of a distributed network, where everything has to align simultaneously at every point. The visual and script part holds the experience here: it makes the remote connection read not as a video call but as a single shared space between cities.
